Basecamp Cu Chick here to add your text.
Basecamp Cu Chi was where I started and ended my tour in Vietnam.
It all began the fourteenth of June, 1969 and ended the fifth of  June, 1970. Cu Chi was located about fifty miles  north of Saigon. It was also about the same distance south of Tay Ninh.
One of the things I remember most of all when I first arrived was the terrible smell. Cu Chi was a large military base with hundreds if not  thousands of military personell. With all the garbage and sewage being disposed of by burning with diesel fuel. A smell you don't forget. It was kind of like following a garbage truck in the hot days of summer. There was also the smell of death everwhere. Troops were dying on a daily basis. You could always tell how big the contact was by the amount of body bags coming in from the field.
There were moments of good times though. As you would suspect with men the calibur of the LRRPS. And below you will find links to some of these experiences through pictures of my short time in basecamp. Kick back relax and enjoy your stay.
